Situated in the southwestern part of Columbia, SC, the Adult and Teen Challenge New Mexico Men’s Campus provides a faith-based rehabilitation program tailored for men facing addiction issues. Established by David Wilkerson in 1960, there are now close to 250 centers in the United States and over 1,000 internationally across 95 nations. The Pacific Northwest Adult and Teen Challenge program requires a $500 fee upon entry, with no further charges incurred throughout the duration of the program. The center's Bible-oriented approach to recovery centers on three key objectives: healing from the pain caused by substance use, fostering reconciliation with Jesus Christ and those around, and facilitating personal transformation through faith in Christ. Program participants are engaged in sermons, Bible studies, prayer sessions, spiritual retreats, and vocational training. Life Renewal offers counseling that integrates behavioral health techniques such as CBT, DBT, and relapse prevention from a Christian framework. As medical staff are not part of the program, participants must complete detoxification prior to entry. To ensure a strong focus on recovery, communication with anyone outside immediate family is restricted, and the use of electronic devices is prohibited. Smoking is also disallowed, aligning with the goal of supporting individuals on their journey to overcoming substance use.
