Canopy Center Oasis Program

Situated within the Canopy Center and conveniently located near the Dane County Regional Airport, the Oasis Program provides personalized therapy options for individuals, families, and groups impacted by child sexual abuse. Funded by the Department of Justice for Victims of Crime along with the Dane County Department of Human Services, Oasis does not impose any fees for its services. The Canopy Center further hosts the Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children (CASA) for Dane and Columbia Counties, as well as the Parent to Child program that oversees supervised visitations. Within the program, children and adolescents receive tailored therapy alongside a therapist who collaborates closely with their non-offending caregivers. Treatment modalities include specialized approaches for trauma, play therapy, and sensory integration techniques. Participants also take part in age-appropriate group therapy sessions that maintain a focus on trauma, ensuring that play therapy elements are integrated based on developmental stages. Oasis extends its group therapy offerings to non-offending parents and caregivers as well, providing them with effective strategies to support and safeguard their children in the wake of sexual abuse. Additionally, therapists are available to help represent clients in legal proceedings and attend hearings with family members. Oasis also features a dedicated program for adult survivors of sexual abuse, which aims to enhance understanding of the ramifications of childhood trauma and foster recovery. Topics addressed in this group include coping mechanisms, emotional management, interpersonal relationships, psychoeducation, self-esteem, and various other relevant issues. Participants are expected to maintain their own individual therapist while benefiting from this complimentary group support.
