About
The Center for Families, part of Newport Healthcare, provides tailored support and educational programs for adolescents aged 13 to 18 and their families. They focus on addressing issues related to mental health, behavioral challenges, and substance use. Their comprehensive approach includes various treatment options such as a partial hospitalization program (PHP), an intensive outpatient program (IOP), and outpatient services to facilitate enduring recovery for both teens and their families.
Central to the Center for Families is the engagement of family members in the healing process. The program aims to rebuild trust and communication among family members. A notable aspect of the program is its peer-facilitation initiative, where parents who have navigated similar struggles with substance use and mental health provide guidance. This allows families to gain insight from parental perspectives while acquiring essential tools to support their loved ones through recovery.
Each adolescent's individual treatment plan is informed by thorough diagnostic evaluations. The accredited professionals at the Center for Families ensure that all patients’ needs are met in a nurturing and empowering environment. Their holistic approach incorporates both clinical care and evidence-based therapies, making for a well-rounded treatment experience. Additionally, teens can learn about responsibility and nurturing through caring for chickens housed at the Center for Chickens on-site.
For youth aged 13 to 18, the treatment experience starts with individualized therapy, along with creative therapies such as art and music, and participation in focus groups. The PHP blends a therapeutic day school with personalized tutoring, enabling students to maintain their academic progress. Engagement in experiential outings—like ziplining, farm visits, hiking, and biking—further enriches their recovery process. The IOP allows teens to remain in traditional schooling while receiving ongoing support in a compassionate community, offering structured care with five days a week on-site involvement.
The Center for Families operates two facilities in Pennsylvania, conveniently located near Philadelphia in Malvern and West Chester, both accessible via the SEPTA line. Each location provides a secure and welcoming environment for adolescents and their families to embark on their healing journey.
