Cumberland Heights offers a 12-step oriented outpatient program designed for adults struggling with alcohol and substance use issues. With a network of 15 outpatient sites throughout Tennessee, as well as two immersion retreats focused on the 12-step method and a residential treatment option, Cumberland Heights has been providing support since its establishment in 1966. This non-profit organization emphasizes individualized care that aligns with each client's specific recovery requirements. The center employs various evidence-based approaches to enhance treatment outcomes, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), medication-assisted treatment (MAT), and 12-step facilitation. They also feature experiential therapies that contribute to a comprehensive healing process, such as adventure therapy, art therapy, relapse prevention strategies, music therapy, recreational therapy, mindfulness practices, spiritual support, and yoga. The option for telehealth services is also in place. Cumberland Heights is recognized as the first treatment facility in Tennessee accredited by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) and stands out as a national leader in the field of addiction recovery. It is also accredited by the Joint Commission. The center works with most major insurance providers and offers reasonable self-pay options to enhance accessibility to their services. Their Cookeville site provides intensive outpatient treatment sessions on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
