About
Embark at Atlanta employs a range of evidence-based and holistic approaches to support adolescents and young adults dealing with mental health issues, addiction, or behavioral conditions. Customized treatment strategies are designed to cater to the unique needs of each patient and their families. These strategies may encompass therapeutic techniques such as dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), trauma-informed cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), attachment theory, experiential therapies, and SMART Recovery for addiction. These approaches aim to address a spectrum of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), borderline personality disorder (BPD), bipolar disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), trauma-related issues, and substance use disorders. The skilled team at Embark is also equipped to help with social isolation, bullying, internet or gaming addiction, oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), reactive attachment disorder (RAD), as well as issues related to self-harm or suicidal thoughts.
The partial hospitalization program (PHP) at Embark, also referred to as the therapeutic day program, represents their highest level of care. This program serves individuals who are transitioning from a residential treatment setting or those requiring more intensive support than what is offered by other outpatient services. Participants typically engage in 27-30 hours of programming over five days each week while maintaining their home life. In addition to individual, group, and family therapy, Embark provides educational services that enable students to keep up with their studies and earn transferable academic credits.
The intensive outpatient program (IOP) offers a more flexible approach, allowing participants to follow their tailored treatment plans while attending group and individual therapy sessions with a reduced time commitment. The IOP focuses heavily on group interactions, requiring attendance for 3 hours per day, 3-4 days per week. In parallel to group sessions, participants maintain their individual therapy and family counseling. This program is typically scheduled in the evenings to accommodate the academic and work commitments of young individuals, ensuring they can prioritize their treatment alongside daily life. For those transitioning to a lower level of care, Embark facilitates ongoing outpatient therapy on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, and also provides options for virtual or in-home counseling for both individuals and their families.
