About
Hope is Alive (HIA) Ministries adopts a Christian-centered methodology for addressing substance abuse challenges. Founded by Lance Lang, who overcame his own addiction, and his wife Ally, who supported his journey, the ministry is rooted in the belief that addiction is a disease. HIA emphasizes the importance of prayer, community, familial recovery, substituting negative habits with positive ones, embracing emotions as part of the healing process, and the enduring presence of hope. In North Carolina, they provide dedicated residences for women in Hubert and Beaufort, as well as men's programs in Beaufort and Greenville.
The sober living initiative at HIA aims to address the fundamental issues that contribute to substance use, promoting transformative life changes. Their homes for each gender typically feature shared sleeping spaces, new linens, dressers, lamps, nightstands, and personal kitchen areas. Residents are encouraged to bring personal items such as a Bible, food and drinks that do not contain alcohol, laundry supplies, towels, and a comprehensive wardrobe for the month.
In addition to providing shelter, HIA offers a structured activity schedule. Participants must enroll in a local 12-Step program, seek full-time employment in the vicinity, and can engage in optional activities like ski trips and retreats. Residents partake in monthly mentor meetings on-site, attend a local church, join a Sunday evening house gathering, a Monday night Bible study, and a Wednesday group session at 6:30 p.m. They tailor the curriculum to suit individual needs and offer assistance with legal matters when required. Moreover, residents have the opportunity to contribute to community service on a monthly basis. The program typically lasts between 12 to 18 months, with many participants completing the full duration. The fee structure is $750 for the initial month and $650 for subsequent months. To help maintain sobriety, HIA conducts random drug screenings.
While based in Oklahoma City, Hope is Alive extends its influence nationally through various sober living and family therapy services, retreats, a YouVersion Bible reading plan, and partnerships with churches, corporations, and schools. They showcase endorsements from notable figures like Craig Groeschel on their YouTube channel, collaborating with personalities such as Tim Tebow, Brandon Lake, and Ben Fuller for retreat initiatives. Regular and special programming updates are shared through their RADICAL magazine and blog entries.
HIA also provides complimentary family support through their Finding Hope initiative, emphasizing intentional love, care, and prayer within the community. Meetings are held twice monthly for 60 to 90 minutes. Their Hope After Loss counseling program is designed for individuals grappling with the grief of losing a loved one to addiction.

Providers Policy
At Hope is Alive Recovery Homes - North Carolina, we understand that financial considerations can be an important part of the recovery journey. Our programs are designed to be accessible to those seeking healing and transformation through a Christ-centered approach to substance use treatment.
The cost for our sober living program is $750 for the first month and $650 for each subsequent month. This fee covers accommodations in our gender-specific homes, access to our structured program, and a variety of support services, including mentorship, community service opportunities, and participation in recovery-focused activities.
While we do not accept insurance directly, we encourage individuals and families to explore potential reimbursement options with their insurance providers. Many plans may cover certain aspects of substance use treatment and recovery, particularly if the individual is enrolled in a medically supervised program. We recommend that participants consult with their insurance companies to clarify their benefits and coverage options.
In addition to our sober living program, we offer the Finding Hope program at no cost, designed to provide support for families affected by addiction. This program includes regular meetings for family members, creating a community of love and support during the recovery process.
We are committed to working with residents and their families to find payment solutions that can assist in the journey toward recovery. If you have questions or need further assistance regarding our programs or payment options, please do not hesitate to reach out to our administrative team. We are here to support you every step of the way.
