The clinical programming at Mission Prep includes medication management, multiple individual therapy sessions each week, family therapy on a weekly basis, and case management support. Knowledgeable professionals employ various therapeutic methods, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). Clients take part in two individual counseling sessions each week, alongside family therapy and two clinical mentoring sessions weekly. Mindfulness practices are interwoven throughout the program to boost the effectiveness of evidence-based treatments. Adopting a comprehensive approach to healing, Mission Prep features specialized groups such as Rock to Recovery, nutrition workshops, gardening sessions, art therapy, and yoga classes, along with life skills training and psychoeducation. Situated in the serene area of San Juan Capistrano, Mission Prep’s residential facility provides a calm, home-like atmosphere. The six-bedroom house includes semi-private accommodations, inviting common areas, therapeutic spaces, and a charming backyard with a peaceful porch. Adolescents are welcome to bring personal belongings, like cell phones and musical instruments such as guitars. They offer transport for intake and discharge from LAX or Long Beach Airport when necessary. Clients are permitted to use cell phones and laptops under the supervision of staff. After residential treatment, Mission Prep provides extensive aftercare services, including follow-up counseling with families and assistance in connecting to community resources.
