About
Samaritan Inns offers specialized programs aimed at helping adults who seek to overcome homelessness and addiction. As a Medicaid-certified provider, their services meet the standards established by the DC Department of Behavioral Health. The treatment framework at Samaritan Inns is broken down into three distinct phases.
Phase 1 comprises an intensive short-term residential treatment program for single adults, aged 21 to 65, focusing on recovery. In this phase, participants engage with the 12-Step principles associated with Alcoholics/Narcotics Anonymous alongside individual and group counseling sessions, as well as case management assistance. A minimum of 25 hours of counseling each week is mandatory.
Upon successful completion of Phase 1, individuals progress to Phase 2, which includes distinct programs for men and women. This phase emphasizes reintegration into the community while incorporating all elements of Phase 1. Participants are expected to commit at least 5 hours weekly to counseling and gain access to various support services, including case management and GED tutoring.
Phase 3 is tailored for long-term recovery, allowing residents to utilize skills developed throughout their journey in a supportive sober housing environment. Eligibility for this phase requires individuals to have completed Phases 1 and 2 or an equivalent program from another provider, along with maintaining stable income, good physical and mental health, and sobriety for a minimum of 6 months. Residents can enjoy private accommodations and communal living spaces while availing recovery support services for a duration of 6 months up to 2 years.
Additionally, Samaritan Inns provides a program for women with children, allowing mothers and expectant mothers recovering from addiction to live in a secure and supportive residential setting. They may bring up to two dependent children aged 0-10. Mothers involved in the family court reunification process are also eligible. Children of school age are required to enroll in local schools, while younger children participate in the center's OSSE-certified childcare facility, which offers on-site care and developmental support. This initiative lays the groundwork for sustainable independence, featuring weekly group sessions, 12-Step meetings, individual counseling, and parenting workshops. The program also includes case management, GED tutoring, job readiness preparation, vocational training, and avenues for spiritual growth.

Providers Policy
At Samaritan Inns, we are committed to ensuring that our treatment programs are accessible to those in need, which is why we are proud to be a Medicaid-approved provider. Our programming is designed to support adults seeking recovery from homelessness and addiction, with a focus on comprehensive care made available through various funding sources.
For individuals who qualify for Medicaid, our services are covered under this plan, allowing access to our intensive treatment programs without financial burden. We also accept private insurance plans and offer a sliding scale payment option for those who might not have insurance. We aim to create an inclusive environment where everyone can receive the care they need regardless of their financial situation.
During the admission process, our staff will work closely with potential residents to verify insurance coverage and help navigate the application for services. We encourage interested individuals to reach out for personalized assistance regarding payment options, coverage details, and to discuss eligibility requirements.
Samaritan Inns is dedicated to fostering a supportive and healing environment, and we believe that financial concerns should not be a barrier to receiving the comprehensive care that each individual deserves on their path to recovery.
