The Carpenter Shed

The Carpenter Shed offers a transitional living program specifically tailored for young men between the ages of 16 and 20 who are dealing with mental health challenges and substance use issues. This program adopts a structured and community-oriented approach, providing participants with vital skills to help them find their direction in life. A key aspect of The Carpenter Shed's methodology is its focus on each individual's personal journey, addressing their specific traumas and creating a nurturing environment for recovery. The program is organized into four phases aimed at altering detrimental behaviors and thought patterns, regardless of the participants’ diagnoses. The initial phase concentrates on resetting and modifying behaviors, while the second phase focuses on rebuilding and establishing future objectives. The third phase promotes self-accountability and personal growth, culminating in the fourth phase, which celebrates the young men’s emerging independence and renewal. The treatment approach encompasses various life aspects—mental, physical, social, spiritual, educational, familial, and vocational—ensuring comprehensive support. Situated on 20 acres near Cheniere Lake in Monroe, Louisiana, the facility offers a comforting setting conducive to healing and community interaction. Clients enjoy access to a spacious lounge for relaxation, private areas for individual sessions and coaching, as well as a fully-equipped kitchen where they learn meal planning and cooking. Available activities on campus include fishing, biking, hiking, and pet therapy. The program holds accreditations from the Better Business Bureau and the Joint Commission and accepts various major insurance plans.
