William J McCord Adolescent Treatment Facility

The William J. McCord Adolescent Treatment Facility, managed by the Tri-County Commission, was established in 1993 to assist families and individuals affected by substance use disorders. This center provides residential treatment for teenagers aged 13-18 facing substance use challenges, as well as outpatient services for youth between the ages of 10-18. At the McCord Center, teens benefit from around-the-clock structured care as they confront their substance-related issues. The duration of stay usually ranges from 5 to 8 weeks, tailored to the severity of the case and the specific needs of the young person. The program prioritizes family participation, offering weekly sessions aimed at improving communication, trust, and setting boundaries. In addition to medical detoxification, the program includes comprehensive evaluations, counseling, therapeutic activities, spiritual services, and more. Outpatient services at this center are available even for youth who are not currently using substances. These services encompass assessments, individual, group, and family therapy, case management, and crisis intervention for young individuals facing anger issues, emotional difficulties, or troubling behaviors in school. Additionally, there is “The Bridge,” an intensive program aimed at adolescents aged 13-17 who are involved in the juvenile justice system, as well as a 6-week parenting group designed to help parents develop their skills and connect with peers for support.
