YSS - Iowa Homeless Youth Center (IHYC) functions as a resource hub for young people facing homelessness, as well as mental health and substance use challenges. With a legacy spanning over 45 years, YSS has been dedicated to offering educational support, counseling, and housing assistance to youth and families in distress. The primary aim of the Youth Homeless Center is to eradicate youth homelessness in Iowa by equipping individuals with the necessary tools to achieve self-sufficiency and escape the cycle of poverty. At IHYC, specialized mental health counseling is available to ensure that adolescents receive critical care, fostering their journey toward stability and independence. Case managers are on hand to guide clients through their educational pursuits, offering support through tutoring, financial resources, and other essential services. YSS’s Ember Recovery program delivers addiction treatment based on proven methods and personalized care plans, focusing on teaching young individuals effective strategies to prevent relapse.
