About
Aware Recovery Care Virginia implements an innovative "Recover Where You Live" strategy for treating addiction in adults aged 18 and over. Their in-home addiction treatment (IHAT) program blends at-home support with virtual services, complemented by concierge options tailored to the individual. Aware Recovery Care approaches addiction through a biopsychosocial curriculum that includes evidence-backed therapies, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), individual and family therapy, alongside integrated care from external professionals.
The center's treatment philosophy is rooted in empathy and the conviction that everyone deserves the chance for lasting recovery. By focusing on the specific needs of each person and delivering ongoing support in their home, Aware Recovery Care aims to lead individuals towards a healthier lifestyle free from addiction.
Each client is assigned a care coordinator, such as a nurse or social worker, along with two client recovery advisors (CRAs) who provide peer support and guidance throughout their treatment journey. They help identify additional care requirements, organizing appointments with primary care providers, therapists, medical specialists, and family education facilitators. When clients already have established healthcare professionals, Aware Recovery Care's medical director ensures collaborative care with them. The family education facilitator aids loved ones in understanding addiction and recovery, as well as fostering healing within the family unit.
The program at Aware Recovery Care is designed to extend over a monthly basis, with treatment durations ranging from one month up to a year. In-home and virtual services offer clients up to 20 one-on-one therapy sessions with an internal psychotherapist. During these sessions, clients gain skills in stress management, self-esteem enhancement, self-compassion, and effective communication, while also addressing negative thought patterns.
A typical day at Aware Recovery Care includes an hour-long visit from a care team member and, depending on the schedule, an in-person meeting with a CRA or a virtual session with their therapist. Clients connect monthly with their Care Coordinator, while the care team maintains regular communication to align treatment with clients’ evolving needs and recovery goals.
The discharge process for clients at Aware Recovery Care is meticulously personalized to fit their specific treatment plans and home situations. They collaborate with their clinical coordinator to discuss a detailed discharge strategy that includes maintaining social connections, pursuing established objectives, and scheduling aftercare appointments with licensed care providers connected to their treatment history.
