Embark at Chevy Chase is dedicated to delivering mental health and addiction recovery services tailored for adolescents and young adults between the ages of 9 and 18, along with their families. The center's most comprehensive care option is the partial hospitalization program (PHP), which offers a structured therapeutic environment focused on both individual and group therapy sessions. Participants receive individualized attention from educators and tutors who assist with academic requirements, allowing them to earn transferable school credits. This program is designed for youths facing acute psychiatric challenges that require support but not constant supervision, employing various therapeutic techniques such as dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), personal coaching, counseling, group therapy, family sessions, and experiential activities. For those who need a step-down option, the intensive outpatient program (IOP) is available, providing similar therapeutic benefits with sessions scheduled in the evenings to fit around educational or work obligations. Each participant in the IOP has a personalized treatment plan that may incorporate methods like trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and SMART Recovery for addiction treatment. In this program, patients are typically engaged for at least 12 hours each week, often attending sessions for three hours a day over 4 to 6 days. Additionally, Embark at Chevy Chase provides a virtual IOP, allowing for greater flexibility and accessibility in treatment when in-person participation is not feasible. Embark focuses on assisting young individuals facing various mental health and behavioral challenges. Their skilled staff is equipped to address conditions including borderline personality disorder (BPD), bipolar disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), depression, and anxiety, along with behavioral issues such as eating disorders, oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), reactive attachment disorder (RAD), gaming addiction, and substance use disorders.
