Set in a serene 50-acre environment in Guelph, Ontario, Homewood Health Centre is a fully accredited, physician-led facility specializing in inpatient treatment for a variety of mental health issues, as well as those involving concurrent mental health and addiction challenges. The center offers tailored programs for first responders, military members and veterans, healthcare workers, individuals with eating disorders, and women dealing with complex trauma. At Homewood Health Centre, clients experience a compassionate and thorough approach to address their specific needs effectively and with the individual care they require. All therapeutic programs utilize a bio-psycho-social-spiritual framework for recovery, with personalized one-on-one sessions integrated throughout their treatment. While individualized attention is important, the majority of the therapeutic experience takes place in group settings. Programs encompass a range of therapies including group dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), individual cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, behavioral activation, interpersonal therapy, as well as art, music, horticulture, and recreational therapies. For those facing addiction, the program includes an initial stabilization phase followed by support for long-term recovery. Homewood Health Centre also hosts Canada’s largest inpatient program for eating disorders for individuals aged 16 and older, which emphasizes healthy eating patterns and the interruption of disordered eating behaviors. Homewood provides diverse recovery management and outpatient programs designed to extend ongoing professional support and guidance to help individuals maintain their recovery journey. These management initiatives prioritize skill enhancement, relapse prevention, overall well-being, and engagement with family and personal support networks, ensuring they can be customized to fit each client's specific circumstances. Nestled along the Speed River, Homewood Health Centre boasts extensive green areas filled with various amenities, including nature trails, a baseball diamond, tennis and basketball courts, a meditation garden, horseshoe pits, a gazebo, and cozy reading areas. Clients have access to a well-equipped gym, a recreation center, a greenhouse for horticultural therapy, a music therapy space, arts and crafts facilities, laundry services, a library, dining areas, a café, and a gift shop. On-site options for massage and osteopathy therapies are available for a fee. Accommodations include both private and shared rooms to suit client preferences.
