About
Focused on supporting individuals in their journey toward mental wellness and recovery from substance use, the Human Development Center (HDC) provides various services including case management for children, a community support initiative for adults, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), crisis intervention available around the clock, and a specific program called Project Reach Out, designed to assist runaway youth and their families. HDC operates four convenient locations in Duluth, with the downtown site being easily accessible.
For minors under 18 who are enrolled in Minnesota Medicaid (MinnesotaCare), HDC delivers case management services that encompass continuous monitoring and care coordination, facilitating connections to critical community resources. They also provide essential advocacy and support when needed. HDC’s Project Reach Out program focuses on mediation and support for youth and families, organizing various engaging activities such as art and movie nights.
For adults, HDC offers a range of interventions, including supportive therapy, medication management, MAT, education on mental health, vocational assistance, symptom tracking, and crisis support. They aid adults in securing and maintaining affordable housing, accessing benefits, and cultivating independent living skills, typically providing these services within the community or home settings.
The downtown and hillside offices operate from Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Additionally, they offer services at the Damiano/Harmony Center on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from noon to 3 p.m. All locations are equipped with entrances that accommodate wheelchair access.
