Lakeside Academy

Lakeside Academy is an extension of MN Adult and Teen Challenge, aimed specifically at boys aged 14 to 18 who are facing challenges related to substance abuse and ongoing behavioral issues. This program provides a comprehensive rehabilitation experience that includes counseling for substance dependency and medical support, along with both traditional and online education. It emphasizes hands-on learning projects and integrates Christian values throughout its curriculum. While the center accepts insurance for its behavioral and mental health services, insurance does not cover the therapeutic boarding school component. Upon arrival at Lakeside Academy, each teen undergoes a comprehensive assessment to identify their needs and establish goals. The initial stage of the recovery process focuses on introducing the boys to the concept of God’s love and fostering therapeutic relationships with the staff. The subsequent phase encourages the teens to reflect on the choices they have made and to engage in honest self-evaluation along with character development activities with their counselors. In the third stage, they work on repairing relationships with family and friends while striving for consistency in positive behavioral changes. The final phase centers on setting personal objectives for their reintegration into home life and includes relapse prevention counseling. Depending on individual progress, these phases range from 6 to 12 months in duration. During their time in the program, the boys also attend a nearby school and engage in practical learning activities on-site, which cover areas such as welding, vehicle maintenance, gardening, property upkeep, animal handling, and woodworking.
