Madrona Recovery for Teens

Situated in Tigard, Oregon, Madrona Recovery provides a comprehensive residential program for adolescents aged 13-17 dealing with substance use and co-occurring mental health issues. The treatment duration ranges from 30 to 45 days and includes 23 beds in a modern, comfortable facility with outdoor areas. Upon arrival, clients are assigned a private room but may later share accommodations with a peer. The program offers medication management, weekly counseling based on evidence-based practices for both mental health and substance use, along with participation in daily group sessions. These sessions cover a variety of topics, including life skills, recreation, recovery strategies, community engagement, art therapy, and play therapy. While Madrona Recovery can help manage certain detox symptoms, it does not provide medically assisted detox services. Before admission, nursing staff assesses prospective clients to ensure they are prepared for the program. Madrona also offers virtual family therapy sessions on a weekly basis and permits phone communication with family members after the first 24 hours, though in-person visits are not allowed during the treatment period. While participation in school is not mandatory, Madrona encourages clients to maintain their educational involvement if they wish. During specific school hours, participants can utilize laptops under staff supervision and receive their school assignments either as physical packets or digitally.
