About
Serenity Lane offers a comprehensive detox and residential rehabilitation program situated in Coburg, Oregon, a charming area celebrated for its National Historic District. Established by Tom Kerns, whose personal experience with loss due to alcoholism motivated him to create accessible addiction treatment, Serenity Lane welcomes patients daily, including same-day admissions. The facility addresses substance use disorders, as well as those with co-occurring mental health issues.
Upon entering treatment, clients first experience a medically supervised withdrawal process from alcohol and/or drugs. Following detoxification, a collaborative team comprising nursing staff, doctors, psychiatrists, and counselors formulates tailored treatment plans. After the detox stage, clients transition into either day treatment or residential care, which emphasizes stabilization, care planning, individual and group therapy, education on substance use disorders, medications management, and a family engagement program.
Typically, the day treatment program runs 5-7 days weekly, with sessions lasting 6-8 hours per day, although a minimum of 4 hours per day and 20 hours per week is also available. The program is well-structured, with most of the day allocated for group therapy, interspersed with an hour for lunch and another hour for an engaging activity. Each patient receives a customized treatment plan, and additional programming can be adapted to meet individual needs. Throughout the program, participants will focus on enhancing their personal and professional life balance, with opportunities for residential clients to obtain weekend passes.
During their stay in residential treatment, each individual is paired with a dedicated counselor and a peer from their group therapy. Clients engage in group therapy sessions twice a day, closely collaborate with patient advocates, and attend lectures and discussions held by staff and alumni. Personal devices may be permitted based on the discretion of the counselor, and common area phones are accessible for those without personal phones. Residential stays generally range from 30 to 60 days.
Extended residential care is available for clients at high risk of relapse or professionals mandated to complete a specific course of treatment. The duration of this care is tailored to individual needs, focusing on identifying underlying issues and developing strategies to prevent relapse.
Serenity Lane also runs a family program that offers education, therapeutic support, and opportunities to improve communication and relationships within families, with visitation available on Sundays. Additionally, a program tailored for first responders addresses their unique needs through specialized clinical services and trauma-informed approaches. Comprehensive support is also offered for healthcare professionals facing substance-related challenges.
Beyond treatment, Serenity Lane hosts alumni events, offers recovery support meetings, and provides various resources for those in recovery, including continued support for a year post-outpatient treatment. The center's DUII education and diversion programs are state-certified and meet all legal requirements, offering monitored treatment options for mandated individuals.
Lastly, Serenity Lane provides employer services that include training on substance abuse recognition, facilitating FMLA processes, and guiding the reintegration of employees back into the workplace.
