About
Serenity Lane was established by Tom Kerns, who, motivated by the loss of his father to alcoholism during his childhood, aimed to ensure that addiction treatment services are available to everyone. The center operates daily, allowing for same-day admissions. Serenity Lane Eugene offers a wide range of outpatient treatment options tailored for those recovering from substance use disorders, individuals with co-occurring mental health issues alongside substance use, and those with purely mental health challenges. The facility provides numerous virtual options across all outpatient levels, including online mental health therapy, and has programs available during both the day and evening. Initial screenings, assessments with customized care planning, and participation in 12-step programs are conducted confidentially.
Serenity Lane Eugene features two tiers of outpatient programs for individuals dealing with alcohol and drug addiction. Their intensive outpatient program (IOP) spans 10 weeks and incorporates group therapy, one-on-one counseling, and educational components about addiction. Groups convene three times a week for 3-hour sessions. Participants may be required to provide urine samples for substance testing, with costs potentially covered partially by insurance. Patients and their families are encouraged to partake in a weekly family education seminar aimed at building community support. Seminar topics include self-acceptance in relation to addiction, individual recovery plans, strategies for relapse prevention, adaptation to a sober lifestyle, and more. Staff assist patients in creating their recovery strategies, and patients are invited to reach out to their counselors as needed. Around the midpoint of the program, participants will share an autobiography detailing the impact of alcoholism or drug addiction on their lives. As the program concludes, individuals will review their recovery strategies with their counselor, discuss any concerns, and receive referrals for ongoing community services, including individual or couples counseling.
The center's level I outpatient program takes place once a week in 1.5-hour sessions focusing on recognizing and managing stressors and learning coping mechanisms for the challenges of early recovery. Partners and family members are welcomed to join these sessions.
Serenity Lane also provides engaging events, alumni recovery support gatherings, opportunities for community service, and valuable insights for sustaining recovery through their alumni services, with several virtual options available. Additionally, individuals can access recovery assistance for up to a year following the completion of outpatient programs.
Serenity Lane presents a family program at no extra fee, which includes education, therapeutic support, and resources to mend family dynamics and improve communication. Support groups for families are also available, with weekly sessions for spouses and significant others, as well as opportunities to schedule family meetings with the patient's primary counselor as necessary.
The DUII education and diversion initiatives at Serenity Lane are certified by the state of Oregon, meeting all court and DMV stipulations. The center offers DMV-approved diversion, treatment groups, and educational workshops. For those mandated to undergo treatment, the "Blue Flag" program enables the monitoring and reporting of patients’ attendance and progress.
