Sheepgate Women's Program

Sheepgate is a rehabilitation facility supported by donations and operates under the Adult + Teen Challenge of the Midlands. It offers a faith-based, gender-specific treatment program tailored for women aged 19 and older. The program spans 12 months and is distinct from conventional recovery approaches. A primary aspect that sets Sheepgate apart is its emphasis on Christ and spirituality. Participants utilize biblical teachings to tackle the challenges of addiction as well as mental health issues such as anxiety and depression. Additionally, the center aids women dealing with hoarding and various compulsive behaviors. Through a discipleship initiative, residents are guided on integrating God’s guidance into their lives through a combination of teaching, personal study, individualized counseling, skill development, and involvement in a Christian community. The women’s program is hosted on an expansive 10-acre site in Beatrice, Nebraska. Once a bed and breakfast, the facility now serves as a sanctuary for women in recovery. The grounds feature a lovely garden, alongside chickens and diverse wildlife. Participants engage in caring for these animals, gardening, meal preparation, and maintaining the house. Daily activities follow a structured schedule beginning at 6:15 a.m., where the ladies enjoy breakfast independently. At 8:00 a.m., they gather at the chapel for morning worship and personal devotion time. Following chapel, participants attend workshops that educate them on the Christian lifestyle and essential skills to combat addiction. The afternoon is designated for work details, which involve house maintenance and animal care. Sheepgate offers a comprehensive work program enabling residents to develop new capabilities. They collaborate with various employers to facilitate job opportunities for participants. The center also supports individuals looking to attain their GED if they haven’t done so already. Family participation plays a significant role in the program as on-site coordinators maintain regular communication with residents' families, providing support through prayer and encouragement. An annual Family Day is organized to allow relatives, including partners, parents, and children, to share in the healing process. Sheepgate proudly reports a success rate of 70%. Upon admission, residents are required to pay a modest intake fee of $750. The program's effectiveness relies heavily on commitment, and the dedicated staff at Sheepgate is committed to fostering the best possible outcomes for all participants.
