Stigler Health and Wellness Center

The Health & Wellness Center (HWC) stands as the largest Community Health Center (CHC) in rural Oklahoma. Established in 2003 through the vision of community-focused individuals, HWC was created to ensure access to high-quality, affordable healthcare. Since its founding in 2005, it has dedicated itself to a singular purpose: delivering excellent healthcare services. Currently, HWC operates 7 healthcare clinics, 3 pharmacies, and 2 residential facilities focused on substance use recovery, along with a mobile dental unit that travels within their service regions. The Oaks of McAlester provides treatment for substance use disorders for both men and women, including those with children. The Pines of Poteau, the latest addition to HWC's network, specializes in support for adult men aged 18 and up tackling substance use issues. HWC offers medication-assisted treatment (MAT), which includes Suboxone therapy and counseling for individuals struggling with opioid use disorder. Additionally, many of their services are available online. In 2021, HWC expanded its reach by incorporating 20 Head Start facilities, benefiting approximately 700 children. The mission of the Health & Wellness Center is to deliver comprehensive services, empower lives through community investment, and enhance overall quality of life.
