(YSS) is a nonprofit dedicated to assisting children, teenagers, and young adults aged 24 and under who are confronted with issues such as addiction, trauma, abuse, and mental health concerns. Since its inception in 1974, YSS has provided a range of services, including emergency shelters, recovery residences, therapy, supervised visitation, and transitional living programs. All these services aim to help young people and their families create a secure, stable environment and progress towards a brighter future. The center employs evidence-based therapeutic techniques like trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), motivational interviewing, and functional family therapy. Therapy can take place at home, in educational settings, or through outpatient services. Peer recovery specialists, drawing from their own experiences, offer invaluable support. YSS also features parenting programs and life skills training to foster family healing and growth, emphasizing long-term emotional health and success. Young individuals reside in home-like environments that foster safety, comfort, and recovery. Gender-segregated recovery homes provide communal areas and structured daily activities within a sober, nurturing space. The Transitional Living Program offers supervised housing that includes educational support, job assistance, transportation, and skill-development opportunities.
