Building Bridges

About

Building Bridges has dedicated the last twenty years to assisting young men aged 14 to 18 in overcoming various difficulties, including substance abuse, oppositional behavior, academic challenges, learning disabilities, and conduct issues. Their highly regarded program emphasizes the importance of family engagement, one-on-one therapy, outdoor excursions, recreational activities, and a 12-Step recovery framework. The duration of the program is personalized based on each young man's needs. Participants advance through different program tiers and can attend Building Bridges' accredited on-site educational institution as necessary. The high school curriculum is fully accredited, allowing for credit transfers to high schools nationwide, certified by the reputable accrediting body Cognia. This ensures that students can thrive in a therapeutic setting while continuing their educational pursuits. Building Bridges offers a diverse curriculum, allowing for customized schedules that cater to each student's academic goals and aspirations. Each day during the academic year is structured with a multitude of activities. Students gather as a group every weekday morning before heading to school. After classes, they return to their housing and have downtime to complete homework. Each evening features different activities post-dinner, ranging from group discussions to community meetings and events, like basketball games at the gym. Saturdays are focused on work therapy, followed by a movie night, while Sundays offer leisurely therapeutic activities such as paintball, fitness sessions, or skiing trips to local resorts. Family involvement is crucial to the recovery journey; thus, parents receive weekly updates through phone calls with the counselor to discuss their child's progress. Regular conference calls with parents, students, and counselors ensure ongoing communication, addressing any concerns collectively. Family visits are organized periodically, allowing parents to engage in local activities and enjoy the surroundings. Situated on over 45 acres in northwestern Montana, Building Bridges has the capacity to accommodate up to 24 young men in its newly designed residential facility, which features comfortable living and dining spaces, a professional-grade kitchen, and a variety of amenities. The property includes private river access, offering opportunities for water skiing, tubing, or simply cooling off on warm days. Building Bridges strikes an ideal balance between a supportive community environment typical of larger facilities while fostering the close relationships that are more attainable in a smaller setting.
