About
Situated at the intersection of Route 1 and Highway 701 in Scarborough, Crossroads Greater Portland Counseling Center provides outpatient services for those grappling with substance use issues and eating disorders. The center features intensive outpatient programs (IOP) and day treatment options specifically designed for women, alongside counseling and educational groups catering to men, women, and their families. Clients can conveniently access the facility via public transportation, with Bus Line 1 stopping within half a mile, and parking is also available on-site. Additionally, Crossroads offers support for transportation and childcare. Established in 1974, Crossroads brings over five decades of expertise in addressing substance use and eating disorders.
Crossroads provides distinct day treatment and intensive outpatient programs for women dealing with substance use and eating disorders. Participants in the eating disorder IOP engage in group therapy utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), all facilitated by qualified clinicians. The program also includes medical nutrition therapy conducted by dietitians, with participants sharing meals that are reviewed by specialists. This program runs Monday through Friday, offering 3 hours of treatment each day. The day treatment program delivers more concentrated care, lasting 6 hours each day on weekdays.
For women in the substance use IOP, the program includes both individual therapy and group sessions focusing on early recovery, preventing relapse, family education, social support, and 12-Step meetings. This program operates 3-5 days a week for 3 hours per session, while the day treatment option provides 6 hours of care daily for 5 days, with separate group sessions for those in substance use and eating disorder programs occurring for half the day and combined for the remaining time.
Crossroads also extends additional services, such as individual, couples, family, and group counseling aimed at men and women facing substance use and eating disorders, addressing personal challenges and enhancing relationships. Furthermore, they offer a driver education and evaluation program (DEEP) for those who have faced charges related to driving under the influence.
