Odyssey House - Parents with Children Residential

About

Odyssey House of Utah is a non-profit organization dedicated to addressing substance abuse since 1971, featuring multiple locations that provide specialized care for a diverse range of individuals and families dealing with addiction and concurrent mental health challenges. Recognized as a leader in substance abuse treatment, Odyssey House has earned accolades as a 31-time Best of State award winner for its outstanding addiction programs. The center offers residential treatment options for both men and women, including specialized accommodations for single parents with children. This includes a residential environment designed for single mothers or expectant mothers and their kids, as well as facilities aimed at single fathers and their children. The residential programs for parents prioritize family unity by providing a nurturing and secure environment where children can heal from trauma while their parents receive necessary treatment from skilled professionals trained in evidence-based practices. Upon admission, clients undergo a comprehensive evaluation to create customized treatment plans that are reflective of their distinct family situations. The experienced treatment team comprises certified addiction specialists, counselors, mental health experts, and psychiatric professionals, all equipped to support clients contending with substance use disorders and associated mental health issues like anxiety, depression, and trauma. Participants engage in a structured therapeutic regimen that includes various forms of individual, family, and group therapy sessions, designed with a trauma-informed approach. While parents focus on their recovery, their children are cared for by qualified childcare staff, and school-aged children are provided opportunities for education through local elementary schools, followed by daycare services in the afternoons. Odyssey House caters to families with children from newborns up to 11 years old. Typically, clients spend between six to nine months in treatment, and upon completing the program, they receive ongoing support to help ensure long-term recovery and establish independent, stable lives. The programs emphasize the importance of maintaining healthy routines and essential life skills, such as cooking, laundry, and maintaining hygiene. Moreover, they place considerable emphasis on enhancing parenting abilities. Parents participate in tailored educational workshops, vocational training, physical fitness, and other activities designed to foster strong bonds with their children through intensive family therapy and establishing a structured environment. Odyssey House offers a comprehensive array of services, including outpatient care, sober living environments, housing assistance, and an engaged alumni network. Families can continue their journey through outpatient therapy, with options for adult residential programs to assist families where multiple caregivers are battling addiction. Medical and medication-assisted treatments (MAT) are also available at their Martindale Clinic. They uniquely operate a residential program for fathers with children, which has been in place since 2005, marking it as the only one of its kind in Utah. Above all, Odyssey House of Utah aims to inspire individuals to heal and improve their lives, being recognized as the largest integrated addiction treatment program in the state. Their commitment to connecting individuals to necessary care has enabled them to offer affordable, high-quality services. Odyssey House is accredited by the Joint Commission and accepts Medicaid alongside many major insurance plans.
