Silver Hill Hospital operates as a standalone, non-profit organization dedicated to the treatment of mental health and substance use disorders. Located on a scenic hilltop in Canaan, Connecticut, Silver Hill provides three tiers of care: inpatient, transitional living, and intensive outpatient programming (IOP). Their tailored programs serve various demographics, including men, women, executives, professionals, and adolescents, with average durations of stay between 5 to 12 days, while some clients may transition to a 42-day transitional living program. Recognizing the individual nature of each client, Silver Hill formulates personalized treatment strategies and a diverse range of therapeutic approaches that align with each person's requirements. Clients can engage in three levels of care that correspond with their stage of illness and have the flexibility to navigate between these levels as their treatment progresses. Silver Hill harmoniously integrates conventional talk therapy with numerous alternative treatments, such as acupuncture, acupressure, massage, mat pilates, Tai Chi, and yoga, among others. The expansive grounds of Silver Hill feature five comforting residential facilities designed for adults and adolescents dealing with addiction and co-occurring disorders, in addition to dedicated centers for personality and psychotic disorders. Each residence is situated in a tranquil rural setting and boasts modern furnishings and inviting living areas. While personal electronic devices like cell phones and laptops are restricted, clients will have the opportunity to use iPads and computers throughout their stay, along with access to a library. At Silver Hill, clients can experience an environment that feels like a home away from home, contrasting sharply with the conventional sterile hospital atmosphere.
