South County Psychiatry IOP

About

South County Psychiatry provides a virtual Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) tailored for individuals in Rhode Island and surrounding areas dealing with mental health issues, enabling them to receive care from their own homes. This program utilizes a comprehensive strategy that integrates personal therapy, medication supervision, and group counseling. Members of the psychology team conduct one-on-one sessions with clients several times a week, employing advanced behavioral therapies such as acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT). Regular consultations with psychiatrists are also held, who work together with current treatment providers to oversee and prescribe medication. The program includes two distinct types of group therapy: one focused on developing coping techniques and another for practicing these strategies. South County Psychiatry collaborates with clients and their healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care following discharge. To enter the program, clients need a referral, ideally from a healthcare provider, though self-referrals are also accepted. A 2-3 hour assessment is conducted the day prior to starting treatment, which aids in formulating a personalized treatment strategy. The IOP operates Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 12:30 PM, offering two group sessions and individual therapy daily. Clients typically engage in the program for a duration of 3 to 6 weeks, aiming to alleviate symptoms and facilitate a return to routine activities.
