About
The Refuge, a Healing Place, offers both residential and day programs designed for individuals dealing with addiction, mental health issues, and trauma-related conditions such as PTSD. Located on over 90 acres, the center addresses co-occurring challenges like depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, self-harm, and behavioral addictions. Their approach tailors treatment to individual needs, emphasizing the 12 Steps, trauma recovery, and aftercare support.
Staffed by a dedicated team of professionals including psychologists, psychiatrists, medical doctors, social workers, nurses, therapists, and counselors, The Refuge ensures clients have access to comprehensive support. Participants engage in weekly one-on-one therapy sessions along with several group therapy options each week. Therapeutic techniques available at The Refuge encompass cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), 12-Step gatherings, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), interpersonal therapy, exposure therapy, and mindfulness approaches.
For addiction treatment, The Refuge initiates a medically supervised detox process and offers medication-assisted treatment (MAT) when required. Clients start therapeutic sessions at their own pace. The facility caters to challenges posed by substance use, alcohol dependence, and behavioral addictions, as well as primary or co-occurring mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and self-harm. Those seeking recovery from eating disorders reside in the Oak House, accommodating 16 individuals at a time.
The Refuge maintains an inclusive atmosphere for pregnant women and LGBTQ+ participants. Residents share cozy cabins on the property, while treatment and clinical facilities feature comfortable environments conducive to healing. Beyond therapy and 12-Step gatherings, clients can participate in trauma-informed yoga, art therapy, creative expression, a ropes course, journaling, horseback riding, and meditative walks on scenic trails, including a labyrinth.
