About
Wellspring is a comprehensive residential facility dedicated to assisting adolescent girls facing mental, emotional, and relational challenges. Established in 1977, this non-profit center holds accreditation from the Joint Commission, confirming its adherence to premier care standards. The program seamlessly combines therapeutic interventions with academic preparatory education through the on-site Arch Bridge School, equipping the girls with vital tools and experiences to foster positive relationships with staff, peers, and family members.
Wellspring addresses a range of issues such as mood disorders, personality disorders, eating disorders, anxiety, PTSD, and substance abuse. Specializing in relationally focused therapy, the program offers individual and group therapy, family counseling, and support groups. The dedicated care team also implements medication monitoring, expressive arts therapy, adventure and recreational therapies, mindfulness practices, and academic support through the Arch Bridge School. This academic institution integrates treatment with educational rigor, creating a secure and enriching environment for personal development. A student’s academic progress acts as a critical measure of their readiness for reintegration into their home environment. Throughout the discharge process, the team provides assistance to facilitate a smooth transition back to their previous schools.
Located in Bethlehem, Connecticut, the Wellspring campus encompasses 15 acres and features two residential programs for young girls. The Beauvais Program, set in a welcoming farmhouse, accommodates 19 girls aged 13 to 18, while the Shiloah Program, located in a cozy home, provides 8 beds for girls aged 12 to 16. Residents have easy access to perennial gardens, pastures, and a barn that hosts animals like goats, bunnies, and chickens. Teens are encouraged to walk independently to their classes at the Arch Bridge School and participate in activities at the Dodds Center for Arts and Athletics, promoting a sense of accountability and trust. Off-campus activities include hiking, swimming, horseback riding, camping, visiting amusement parks, museums, and engaging in adventure-based excursions. Typically, the duration of stay ranges from 12 to 18 months.
