Harris House, established in 1961, has dedicated over five decades to supporting both men and women facing challenges related to drug and alcohol addiction. Recognizing the individuality of each client and their unique stages in recovery, Harris House provides a comprehensive range of services, which includes a 28-day inpatient treatment program, Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), medical detox, and transitional housing. Their holistic treatment framework prioritizes customized care plans tailored to each individual’s needs. Alongside addiction recovery, clients receive vital training in job skills, as well as support for managing stress, anger, depression, and anxiety. The IOP emphasizes the 12-Step methodology and is priced competitively compared to similar services. Treatment modalities incorporate both individual and group therapy sessions. Group interactions can take the form of educational discussions or process-oriented meetings. Educational groups cover the physiological effects of addiction, illness theories, the stages of Alcoholics Anonymous, identification of triggers, and strategies for preventing relapse. While clients engage in structured activities every day, Sundays offer a more leisurely schedule, allowing personal time for relaxation. Clients are accommodated in semi-private rooms, have access to a fitness center, and enjoy meals prepared by a professional chef. For those coming from outside St. Louis, airport transportation is arranged. Graduates are encouraged to continue their involvement in the IOP program as necessary and can participate in weekly aftercare groups for up to a year following their treatment.
