About
Located within sight of the Sandia Mountains and about 90 minutes north of Santa Fe, the New Mexico Wellness Treatment Center Taos offers comprehensive, trauma-informed support for adults grappling with substance use issues. This residential facility, previously known as the Days Inn next to UPS, features a therapeutic garden along with scenic views of the surrounding desert. Clients have the opportunity to engage in group nature excursions to discover the natural beauty of the desert landscape. Each individual is provided with a personal room for their stay.
The myriad of treatment options at New Mexico Wellness Treatment Center includes individual counseling, group sessions, art and music therapy, medication-assisted therapies, nutritional guidance, and yoga. The center typically addresses a range of addictions, including alcohol, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opioids, heroin, fentanyl, painkillers, and methamphetamines. Their approach is both strength-based and spiritual, adaptable to diverse beliefs. They offer both 12-Step and alternative recovery meetings and can prescribe medications such as methadone and Suboxone if deemed beneficial for the patient.
Clients generally stay for a duration of 30 days, during which they receive training in life skills to prepare for their post-treatment lives. During detoxification, clients are monitored around the clock to ensure their safety. The New Mexico Wellness Treatment Center welcomes individuals who wish to return and assists those in need of food and housing resources.
While the center prefers clients to complete their treatment, they allow for early discharges if requested. In such cases, they prioritize the client’s safety, provide relevant discharge information, and encourage them to reach out for further assistance if needed.
New Mexico Wellness Treatment Center maintains strong connections with the local community and accepts New Mexico Medicaid, but it is accessible to everyone, particularly veterans and members of Native American tribes. Native shamans are available to conduct ceremonies and aid in the recovery process.
Additionally, New Mexico Wellness Treatment Center operates a facility in Rio Rancho, a suburb of Albuquerque, where patients can still enjoy desert views. Clients can express a preference for placement in either location during the admission process, or opt for whichever facility has sooner availability. Treatment methods and costs are consistent across both centers.
