ARC Karen's Place Maternity Center

About

Karen's Place Maternity Center is a rehabilitation facility exclusively for pregnant and new mothers, situated on the grounds of King’s Daughters Medical Center. The center specializes in treating substance use disorders through a comprehensive program that is accredited by CARF. Managed by an addiction specialist, the center adopts a holistic approach that incorporates Christian principles, including 12-Step support and chaplaincy services. Additionally, it offers vocational training and neonatal care resources, allowing mothers to stay with their infants throughout their treatment. The initial phase of their four-phase program is aimed at detoxifying the body and formulating a customized care plan. Upon arrival, medical staff conduct thorough physical and mental assessments to personalize the treatment process. The detoxification process occurs in a secure and monitored environment where individuals can safely withdraw from substances. Medication-assisted treatment is also provided when necessary. In the residential phase of care, Karen's Place Maternity Center emphasizes a Christian, holistic methodology that addresses the entire individual—mind, body, and spirit. They offer continuous support from addiction specialists around the clock. Clients participate in evidence-based individual and group therapy sessions to explore their triggers and acquire effective coping mechanisms. The center conducts meetings for Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, and Celebrate Recovery. Following their stay, clients have the option to transition into intensive outpatient care that allows for a more flexible treatment schedule. The second and third phases concentrate on fostering peer support and equipping clients with practical skills for returning to employment or education. Karen's Place Maternity Center provides opportunities for spiritual growth, ongoing therapy sessions, and 12-Step meetings. Life skills workshops include targeted job training, education on neonatal care, and other learning activities. In the final phase, male clients engage in an internship program designed to enhance practical life abilities. Upon completion of the program, clients earn a certificate from the Health and Human Services department at Sullivan University, which can be applied towards Sullivan’s two-year associate or four-year bachelor’s degree programs.
